Dayton & Beavercreek Tornado

June 6, 2019

Announcement

Many Dayton and Beavercreek residents have had to leave their homes as a result of the Memorial Day tornadoes, but two men want to make sure they aren’t going hungry. Steve VanGorder, owner of SVG Motors, and Ed Evans, owner of Evans Cattle Company, felt the need to do something for the area’s residents after seeing the destruction first-hand.

VanGorder, whose own business on Shoup Mill Road received tornado damage, stated, “While the physical injuries caused by the tornadoes were few, the emotional and financial damage is overwhelming to so many in Dayton and Beavercreek. My friend Ed Evans and I felt we needed to take action to lessen the burdens on the affected.”

Evans, who owns Evans Cattle Company in New Carlisle said, “If I could, I would feed the world, but right now it’s the Dayton and Beavercreek residents who need our help.”

As the two began to make plans, other area businesses volunteered their time and services as well. Together, the group decided to hold two cookouts – one at the SVG Motors dealership in Dayton, and one at the new SVG Motors dealership in Beavercreek. People affected by the tornadoes can come enjoy a hot hamburger with delicious side dishes such as baked beans and coleslaw catered by Batdorf’s Red Barn Catering.

Residents will be treated to hamburgers made from fresh, locally raised beef supplied by Evans Cattle Company, with processing help from Copey’s Butcher Shop and J&L Meats, both of Medway. After enjoying a free hot meal, residents can also receive a supply of paper towels, toilet paper, bottled water, and frozen beef patties to take with them, supplied in part by IGA of New Carlisle.

Those who are in need and would like to attend are welcome to visit SVG Motors’ Dayton location at 400 Shoup Mill Road on Thursday, June 6th, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm (or while supplies last). A second cookout will take place later that day at the SVG Motors Beavercreek location, 3415 Seajay Drive, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. If you have any questions about the event, please contact SVG Motor’s Director of Marketing, Lynn Mitchell, at 937-548-7643.
